SECURITYWATCH BICSI Wraps Fall Conference Photos: BISCI 3,800-plus attendees descended on Las Vegas for five days of education and exhibits The closing Keynote at BICSI was delivered by Don Yeager, New York Times best-selling author and long-time Associate Editor for Sports Illustrated, who talked about unlocking the secrets of great winners, such as Michael Jordan. Opening Keynote Speaker Scott Klososky, a former CEO of three successful startup companies, presented a speech focused on the importance of elevating businesses through the use of technology. 12 BICSI, the association supporting the information technology systems (ITS) industry, recently wrapped up five days of educational sessions and exhibits at its Fall Conference in Las Vegas. "Education is the true backbone of every BICSI conference," BICSI President Jerry L. Bowman said in a statement. "As we continue to diversify the learning opportunities for our attendees, there has been remarkable growth within our Exhibit Hall, with more and more education delivered by our exhibitors on the show floor." There were two-and-a-half days packed with educational sessions, such as "Implementing Projects in the ITS Industry — Project Management's Best Practices and Lessons," by Ahmed Al Taie, RCDD, of Thinkbox Technology Group in Irvine, Calif.; and "Navigating the Pros and Cons of Structured Cabling vs. Top of Rack in Data Centers," by Todd Harpel of Berk-Tek, New Holland, Pa. "BICSI is a great resource for continuing education," said attendee Guy Spann of IK Electric Co., Little Rock, Ark. "BICSI conferences have always been the right place for experiencing new technologies." Throughout the conference, BICSI Cares, the organization's charitable arm, collected donations for Teen With a Dream, a charity that helps to enrich the lives of pediatric cancer patients and their families. The donation check was presented at the closing session to Teen with a Dream founder, 24-year-old Spencer Harrison. Bowman closed the conference by announcing that the 2014 BICSI Winter Conference & Exhibition will be held Feb. 2-6 in Orlando, Fla. ❚ www.SecurityInfoWatch.com | SD&I; | November 2013
