SECURITYWATCH What's New Online from TransactionsThe latest in security M&A; activity ADS PURCHASES ACCOUNTS OF SECURITY SERVICES INC.: ADS Security has acquired the customer accounts of Security Services Inc. in Savannah, Ga., the second acquisition for ADS this year. The newly acquired business will bring the customer base at the ADS-Savannah branch to more than 4,000 accounts. "The purchase of Security Services is part of our focus on regional expansion," ADS President and CEO John Cerasuolo said in a statement. The owner of Security Services, Billy Rauers, and his team, are joining ADS and will be based out of ADS' Savannah office. SECURITY PARTNERS ACQUIRES NEW CENTRAL STATION: Security Partners of Lancaster, Pa., has acquired Response Center USA of San Antonio, Texas — a second hot-redundant monitoring center for the company. The UL-listed central station provides bilingual monitoring services of burglar and fire alarms, PERS and video alarms to thousands of residential and commercial customers in the surrounding area. "The only change that our dealers will notice is the increased capacity and service offerings now available through this expansion," said Mike Bodnar, president of Security Partners.  MAS BECOMES AUTHORIZED HONEYWELL DEALER: Honeywell has welcomed Yorktown Heights, N.Y.-based Marshall Alarm Systems (MAS) — a full service electronic security provider — as a Honeywell Authorized Dealer for Commercial Security Systems (CSS). MAS specializes in designing and installing commercial and residential security systems in southeastern New York. "MAS wanted a security partner that could grow with it and shared the same commitment to exceptional customer service," MAS owner Marshall Marinace said.   HACKETT ACQUIRES AVERY: Hackett Security of St. Louis has acquired Avery Security of Wentzville, Mo., which has provided security services for both residential and commercial customers in areas of Missouri since 1999. "The Avery purchase represents our 18th acquisition in recent years," said Michael J. Hackett, CEO and President of Hackett Security. ALARM CAPITAL ALLIANCE ACQUIRES ARIZ. ACCOUNTS: Alarm Capital Alliance (ACA) has acquired nearly 1,000 accounts in Southeast Arizona, increasing its customer base to more than 5,000 accounts in Arizona and more than 143,000 nationwide. "This family owned company had a wonderful team to work with," said Anastasia Bottos, Chief Business Development Officer and Executive Vice President of Acquisitions of ACA. TYCO COMPLETES EXACQ ACQUISITION: Tyco Security Products has completed its acquisition of Exacq Technologies, a developer of open architecture video management systems (VMS) for $150 million. Exacq will be integrated into the Tyco Security Products business unit. "We believe that the combination of Exacq and American Dynamics video solutions, coupled with Tyco Security Products' global service and install footprint, will enable us to better serve our customers," Mike Ryan, President of the Tyco Security Products business unit, said in a statement. MONITRONICS COMPLETES SECURITY NETWORKS ACQUISITION: Monitronics Intl., has completed its previously announced acquisition of Security Networks LLC for total cash consideration of $482.9 million, plus 253,333 newly issued shares of Ascent Series A common stock. ❚ 14 Wisdom From an Industry Pioneer Monitronics closed its acquisition of Security Networks in August, giving the company more than one million accounts and a network of 600-plus dealers nationwide.
