SECURITYWATCH What's New Online from Fresh Off the Wire Big news from vendors, distributors and more AVIGILON TO ACQUIRE VIDEOIQ FOR $32M: Avigilon has entered into an agreement to acquire video analytics firm VideoIQ for $32 million. According to a statement, VideoIQ's portfolio of video analytics property includes 23 patents either already granted or pending. Avigilon President and CEO Alexander Fernandes said that the acquisition will complement the company's line of surveillance products. "The acquisition will give us sophisticated, commercially proven analytics technology. VideoIQ is transforming the future of intelligent surveillance and I am pleased to welcome the team to Avigilon," Fernandes said in the statement. SECURITY PARTNERS LANDS ANOTHER CENTRAL STATION: Security Partners has acquired Mace Central Station of Anaheim, Calif. — the company's second major acquisition in the last six months. With the acquisition, Security Partners can now offer its dealers and subscribers the benefits of three redundant central stations. "With this latest move, we will be creating a national monitoring solution with true redundancies and operational efficiencies from coast to coast," CEO Patrick Egan said in a statement. TYCO PARTNERS WITH ALARM.COM: Tyco Security Products has announced a new global partnership with Alarm.com. With highly customized services that include interactive security, video monitoring, energy management and home automation, Alarm.com's technology complements Tyco Security Products' interactive hardware solutions. Alarm.com will be available in early 2014 on DSC's IMPASSA series followed by select other hybrid systems for global markets later in the year. PHYSICAL, DIGITAL IDENTITY PROTECTORS MERGE: Datacard Group, provider of secure identification and card personalization solutions, has agreed to acquire Entrust Inc., which specializes in securing digital identities and information. "Connectivity is redefining physical and digital boundaries. For our customers and partners, this means opportunity, but also significant complexity," said Todd Wilkinson, president and CEO of Datacard Group. "For years the paths of our companies have intertwined as we served customers from different points within the technology spectrum. Those paths now converge to bring powerful new innovations in secure identity."
