In addition, the vote replaced the CSAA's current purpose statement in its bylaws with a mission statement. The associ- ation's new mission is "to advance the professional monitoring industry through education, advocacy and public safety relationships." At the meeting, mem- bers also voted on a number of bylaws changes aimed at clarifying various CSAA membership classifications. ● Electronic Security Association Announces ESA Insurance Solutions: The Electronic Security Association (ESA) has partnered with GDP Advisors LLC to bring members insurance and consulting services. In addition to general lia- bility and E&O; insurance already offered through Security America RRG, ESA Insurance Solutions provides products including health insur- ance, workers comp, business auto insurance, commercial property insur- ance, as well as home, auto, and life insurance. "Many ESA members are in need of an affordable health plan for their businesses and now ESA Insurance Solutions has the answer," said Merlin Guilbeau, ESA's Executive Director & CEO. This year could be particularly ripe for scams following the sale of ADT earlier this year to an affiliate of private equity firm Apollo Global Management, as a favored scheme used by fraudsters is to tell homeowners that their alarm service provider has gone out of business and they need to upgrade and sign a new contract. That's just one of the numerous misleading, high-pres- sure tactics some door-to-door alarm sales reps employ. "2016 has been a historic year for Convergint, with a record number of five acquisi- tions in five months, and more to come," said Dan Moceri, executive chairman and co-founder of the company. Founded in 1993, Corporate Security Services pro- vides security solutions to the New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia areas. Convergint's previous purchases this year include Dakota Security Systems, H&E; Comfort Controls, Swiss integration firm Enion, and Total Recall. Security Watch COMPILED BY PAUL ROTHMAN To say prior industry experience has pre- pared Matt Barnette for his new role as President of Mercury Security is an understatement. Barnette brings 20-plus years of security manufac- turing experience in general and access control solutions in particular to his new job succeeding the retiring Steve Wagner, who spent a decade running the show at Mercury. Barnette moves to Mercury after spending 12 years with AMAG, where he held several executive positions during his 12 years there, including the last several as president. Barnette is excited by the challenges that lie ahead, but his core technology vision is closely related to that of the Mercury team, which has been a beacon of open architecture collaboration and a true spirit of partnership with both ven- dors and users for decades. "The key to our success is through our partners and their customers," Barnette says. "We need to enable them to sustain what they have by providing open products that don't require them to spend valuable time and capital on upgrades. We need to develop new products that help solve more complex issues customers are facing." Read the full interview with Mr. Barnette at www.securityinfowatch.com/12216531.
